Conserve Water at Home

One of the most important things we can do to conserve water is to save it in our homes. There are a number of ways you can do this, but here are five tips that may help:

#1 - Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth or shaving.

Turning off the tap while brushing your teeth or shaving will reduce the amount of water used by these activities. It only takes a few seconds and saves water too!

#2 - Use a low-flow showerhead.

A standard showerhead uses around 2 gallons per minute (gpm). A low-flow showerhead uses around 1 gpm. This means that you could use over twice as much water with a low-flow showerhead than with a standard one! An average household uses about 80 gallons per week, so switching from a standard one to a low-flow model would save you about 8,000 gallons per year!

#3 - Install aerators on faucets and spigots in sinks.

Aerators are small attachments that fit over the spout of your faucet or sink's "showering" valve (the one you use when you want to turn on.

Water is a precious and finite resource, but it's not hard to save some of it. Here are some ways you can cut down on your water usage:

Don't shower or bathe in a bathtub full of water. You should only be taking a bath every five days.

Turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth.

Don't run the dishwasher just before bedtime so that you don't use up any hot water during the night. A dishwasher uses about 10 gallons per cycle.

Use a low-flow showerhead if you can find one, or reduce how much water you use by adjusting the temperature and pressure settings on your faucet.

Conserving water is a key part of conserving energy. It's one of the most important things you can do to reduce your water usage, which saves you money and is good for the environment. Here are some ways to save water at home.

Turn off the faucet when brushing your teeth or shaving. You don't need that much water for these activities anyway, so try using the sink instead.

Don't let your shower get too hot or run for long periods of time. When taking a shower, use cold water and set it as short as possible - usually less than 5 minutes and no more than 10 minutes.

If you have a laundry room, use it! Laundry rooms often have large volumes of water being used by clothes washing machines and washing machines. Consider using an outside hose attachment on your washing machine to rinse clothes instead of running it through multiple cycles in the washer itself; this saves water and avoids clogging your pipes with lint build-up from dirty clothes.

If you want to shave with a razor blade but don't want to buy any special products, try doing it yourself! The easiest way is to use a spoon or fork to scrape off excess hair before.

Conserving water is a big part of living by the principles of "living simply." In fact, it's one of the first steps someone living by these principles takes.

The idea is simple: You use less water because you have less to waste.

The more you conserve, the more you save and the more money you can spend on other things.
